With more than 500 million native speakers, Bangla is the fifth most widely spoken language in the world (after Mandarin, Spanish, English and Hindustani (Hindi-Urdu). It is also the fourth most spoken language in terms of native speakers. Bangla is the second most commonly spoken language in India (after Hindi). No other country sacrificed blood to legislate their language as the national language but Bangladesh, what was then East Pakistan in 1952. The UNESCO has declared 21st February as The International Mother Language Day __ReMi__
